White Runtz is a feminized photoperiod and a perfectly balanced 50/50 hybrid, born from Gelato x Zkittlez. It’s a newer strain that made its name in Oakland before it became a worldwide favorite, and it’s named for the thick blanket of white trichomes that covers its buds. Its “candy gas” terpene profile, the one every Runtz strain review talks about, tastes like a bag of sugary fruit chews dipped in gasoline: sweet first, gassy at the end. The loudest terpenes are limonene, beta-caryophyllene and linalool. The flavor is creamy. The look is just as famous: dark purple leaves against snow-white resin, on buds that look like they’ve been dragged through a blizzard.

How to Grow White Runtz Photoperiod Seeds in a Pot for Pot Kit

Plant one seed in our organic super soil and just add water. It’s easy to grow, and starting from seed means you skip clones that can bring spider mites. As a balanced hybrid it doesn’t grow wildly out of control, but it rewards a little finesse. It’s a modern strain that wants strong light: build a solid frame in a long vegetative stage on 18 hours of light, then flip to 12/12. Blast it with light in weeks 5 through 8 of flower, when resin production goes into overdrive. The buds get rock-hard, so a trellis net is a must, or the branches can snap under their own weight; gentle training (LST) flattens the canopy so every bud site becomes a solid nugget instead of fluffy larf. White Runtz Flowering Time and Plant Size

It’s a photoperiod, so it starts flowering when daylight drops to about 12 hours. It needs a full season: outdoors, plan on a mid-October finish, and don’t pull early, because the Runtz candy flavor develops in the last 10 days. Watch the trichomes with a loupe and harvest at a sea of milky heads; wait too long and you lose the candy terpenes. Indoors, you start flowering by switching your lights to 12 hours on, 12 off. After the switch it won’t stretch to the moon, but it does expand outward.

Growing White Runtz Indoors vs Outdoors

Outdoors: in the right climate it grows into purple trees that smell like a candy factory. It thrives in a warm, dry fall: Zones 8-10 and the long, dry summers of the West Coast and the dry Southwest. In wetter, cooler Zones 5-7, be vigilant: the dense buds trap moisture, so plant where the morning sun hits first to burn off the dew, prune for airflow and defoliate the interior. The resin deters some bugs, but caterpillars love the sweet smell, so use a preventive organic BT spray. Indoors: for magazine-quality buds, grow it inside where you control the climate. It likes about 78°F (25°C) by day; dropping nights to about 65°F (18°C) in the final weeks brings out purple hues and maximizes the white frost. Keep humidity under 45% near the finish; these buds are too dense to risk mold.
