Tropicana Cookies Strain: Type, Aroma and Flavor

Tropicana Cookies Photoperiod is a feminized photoperiod and a sativa-leaning hybrid (about 70% sativa), from the Tangie x Girl Scout Cookies family (GSC strain review). Its aroma is often described as a bag of fresh blood oranges mixed with spicy cookie dough, or freshly squeezed orange juice and cookie dough: an aggressive citrus nose from its Tangie side, over a musky, earthy base. The flavor is an explosion of tangerine zest and creamy dough that lingers. The loudest terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene and humulene. It’s a showstopper: deep, dark purple hues, and in autumn the foliage turns violet, crimson and sometimes almost black, like it was grown on Mars.

How to Grow Tropicana Cookies Photoperiod Seeds in a Pot for Pot Kit

Plant one seed in our organic super soil and just add water. These are stable, vigorous genetics bred for resilience, and as a photoperiod you control the vegetative stage, so you can train a big, resinous plant. It grows great in a grow tent, and for its fullest expression, let it bake in the summer sun. Start on 18 hours of light and 6 of dark with intense light; it loves lumens. It’s vigorous and loves to stretch: less a squat bush, more a branching artist, which suits a trellis net (a “screen of green”) you can weave its long arms through. Thanks to its Tangie side it can double in height in the first weeks of flower, so flip to 12/12 before your tent is packed. Its long gaps between nodes are great for airflow but need support: top it early and often for a multi-cola bush, and use a trellis net so the swelling buds don’t bow the branches. Tropicana Cookies Flowering Time and Plant Size

It’s a photoperiod, so it starts flowering when daylight drops to about 12 hours. Outdoors, it’s a race for the purple: the plant transitions into a spectacular autumn display and finishes in a reasonable time for a sativa-leaning plant, in the fall. Harvest when the trichomes are milky white with just a touch of amber. Indoors, you start flowering by switching your lights to 12 hours on, 12 off, and flowering takes around 10 weeks. Growing Tropicana Cookies Indoors vs Outdoors

Outdoors: our growers have run it from the humid South to the crisp air of the Rockies. It thrives in warm, sunny Zones 8-10, where it soaks up UV and grows into a big tree, but it truly shines in Zones 4-7, where cool autumn nights trigger deep violet hues; the fan leaves often fade to crimson and purple long before harvest. The open bud structure lets air through, so it resists mold and mildew better than tight, leafy indicas. Indoors: the color comes from its genetics, but cooler nights bring out the deepest violets and reds: drop to around 65°F (18°C) during the dark period in late flower, like the purple in Purple Kush. Keep humidity at 40-50%, because the buds get dense and sticky.
